translation clarification pls

I want to check something about translating and mouseX, mouseY.
Am I correct that mouseX and mouseY give co-ordinates based on 0,0 being in the upper left regardless of whatever translation is occuring? That seems to be what's happening when i run tests but I wanted to check it.
