Passing variables through Java(script)

Hi Ben & Everyone.
One quick question (although I doubt I'll dig deeply into it for a while).
I've been working with a generative music program (Koan) that communicates with Flash through Javascript, and communicates tot he Java API.
I was just wondering what the best way would be so far to pass variables to and from Koan from Processing?
I also realize that you probably are not familiar with Koan's methods, etc.
