Image map controls particle flow

Hi,
 
I want to control particles by an image. The particles should be attracted by parts of an image (for example black pixels). Does anyone know some similar works?
 
I have found this one: http://www.storyabout.net/p5/dots_not_pipe.html
 
but the dots should be created outside the image.
 
Any idea?
