Using and creating sound (tone generator)

What is the proper way to create a tone of a given frequency in Processing? For example, 440mHz (a).
and what is the process to combine tones, to make chords?
I've been playing around with it, but have never done anything like this before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
And if I've posted in the wrong board, let me know!
