External Library and XP

Perhaps related to the 'spawning external VM' problem - several Sonia users have been complaining that the external library halts Processing localy on XP, but still works well through a browser. We found that some XP machines have a problem with external libs in general, and that a windows process may be interfering.

are you guys running virus scanning software? in particular, symantec's norton anti-virus? that's where i've heard most of (all?) of the cases of the spawning external vm problem..
