quits randomly when using video intensively

hi,
running p5 v. 0065 on Mac OS 10.2.6, with QT 6.4.
randon crashes of p5 when using video intensively : i'm displaying images based on diffferences between adjacent frames and averaged over time.
used to crash also with QT 6.3
a difficult question : is there some kind of treshold in "processing" power in terms of datarate in order for p5/java/QT to handle things correctly?
i'm intending to teach it at university in France next semester... still a bit scared to have 20 students shouting at me for crashes!

yeah, the crashing is the very last item on this list:

i'm fairly confident we can improve things.. it's apple's bug, but there are probably things we can do to avoid triggering it. when do you start your class? also, are you seeing it on specific movies or with just about any movie? or is this when capturing?
