serial menu grey-out

hi
I'm trying to figure out how to active serial communication with 0068 standard on Win. no matter what I do, the menu is always greyed out...

i've had the same problem before - try using run.bat (standard version) or run-expert.bat (expert version) instead of processing.exe ... that has worked for me 
(not sure about the .bat name for the standard version)
