editor cursor disappears

I'm getting an odd error using proce55ing... when I start the application, the cursor appears, but the moment I move the cursor or start typing, it disappears and doesn't come back.
Any ideas?

an attempt to fix has been made in 49 (which will be posted within the hour). let me know if it does/doesn't work.
