I download the last version (processing-0043.zip)! Could you help me with this problem - do i have to install any java-software first on my computer?! Thanx a lot!

it sounds like your files didn't unzip properly from winzip, and so all the names are getting mangled to 8.3 (dos-style) syntax.. if there's a file called "pde.pro" (instead of pde.properties) in your 'lib' directory, then that's what happened (proce55ing.exe will also be proce55i.exe or something like that). re-extract the files with winzip and make sure long filenames are enabled. let us know if this fixes things.

no - that isnt the problem...my unzipped files have all the long names! what else could it be?! should i have a special driver or java-runtime-environment on my system?!

hmm.. that's too bad. i'll need to find a windows 98 machine to test it on here.. java is included, the problem is that paths aren't being set correctly so it's not finding the necessary pieces to start. one thing you might try is making a shortcut to Proce55ing.exe, and see what happens when you run that. sounds a little nuts, but might work. another thing to try would be opening up a command prompt, then using cd to travel to the appropriate directory, and then typing 'Proce55ing' to start it. let me know if either of these work..

try opening up a command prompt, and cd to the directory that contains Proce55ing.exe (and run.bat).. then type 'run' to load up run.bat, and see if that does any better for you. let me know how it goes.. it sounds like the launcher .exe is gonna need some work.

another possibility that some people have run into.. did you make sure that the files unzipped with their proper folders? there should be folders for 'lib', 'fonts', etc in your processing directory. if not, then the files need to be extracted again with the folder naming intact.

yes correctly - there are 5 folders and the .exe + .bat + 2 textfiles!
