Ariel's TTC (Processing Exhibition)

If I were using Ariel's TTC to write this post, you'd see a 10 minute delay before anything was written.

Why? Oh, I had terrible trouble getting the program to read my files 'simply' by changing the URL paramater.

Anyhow, after copying the file ttc_online.jar onto my server, and using the file paramater instead of the url paramater, I finally got this working:

http://mkv25.net/applets/ttc/index.php?script=enhancing_ttc.chr

Feel free to speed it up, I can just about read it back to myself at 4x speed.

Regards,
- Markavian

fixed!

it didn't work with our beloved microsoft jvm, since it doesn't seem to like "simple" perl file redirection within applets.

the solution was to make a more complex perl script that does real binary url content outputing (phew!)

(will come back later on to this thread to discuss "text as time-based media" issues...)

TTC is a nice piece. I think Ariel is on to something about text as time-based media. This would work well in a gallery context, probably even better than it does online since gallery goers love to get involved in a piece.

i have plans to continue the exploration of text + digital medium when i'm less broke, hopefully in early 2005.

a propos galeries, i'm new in the field but it seems to make sense (even had the visit of a lovely dutch curator called nat a few weeks ago...)
