midibus noteON throwing a java error?

edited July 2014 in Library Questions

Any time i try to send a midi noteON signal in processing 2.2.1 using the midibus library the note is irresponsive and I get the following message:

Disabling noteOn() because an unkown exception was thrown

This doesn't happen to me when I use processing 1.5.1 with the same library on the same computer. I'm running java 8 32 bit. Windows 7 64 bit. Using P3D. any ideas?

  • anyone else experience this problem? bumping because it seems to be a fairly large issue with this library, if it really truly is an issue with the library. Hopefully not, though, I do love midibus.

  • Mmm, actually, you get an OpenGL error when calling background() in the noteOn() callback function.

Can be specific to your video card, or your sketch.

  • i can map this function to a key instead of a midinote and it works fine... would opengl be processing my midi input any differently than my key input? would the syntax for using midinotes have changed from processing 1.5 to 2.1?
