where can I find different shape ? like the shape of a car ( vehicle ) to load in processing ?

I am a beginner. but i have tried a few different things.

What type of thing are you looking for?

a really basic design of car class is available on learningprocessing.com in the examples section.

Also what you could consider doing is a mapping, mapping a PImage of a car onto your sketch. this is how I have made much more realistic looking objects?

you need to look at vertex shapes

beginhape();

endshape();

If you use vertex shapes you can use the texture(); so you can draw simple shapes and texture them with an image of a car.

I ain't sure thats what you mean, and as a beginner I normally seek help, not try to answer, but it so happensI have recently made a game and used this idea a lot and managed to create flying saucers, planets, stars etc

sure ok, i will just write a very simple example as the only things i have are implemented in much larger programs.

hi ok have a look at this

it is super simple but you will get the idea I think. you need to pick a file of a car you like the look of, save it as car .jpg or preferably car.png i.e transparent background! where I have inserted car.jpg just place your choice in the sketch data folder and replace the name for what ever you like. it will map you chosen image over the shape you create. then you can simply use another Pvector to move that shape around and animate it.

hey no worries,

Its the first time I have ever been of use to someone else, must be learning something. glad its useful.

This technique is used in very advanced applications as far as I can see. my advice is to start simple gets some basic animated controls move left right etc. this method can be used very effectively with physics engines such as jbox2d. you can create polygons and cirlces etc and simply map pictures over them, this creates very realistic movement and responses and produces great results for simple games and apps.

I had looked at sprites. can i ask? when using a sprite, the sprite comes defined already as a vertex shape?

so in effect the image doesn't need a vertex shape at all as it is one itself?

yes, it's not a vertex shape, it's an image.
