Mathematic formula/theory reference

Hi, I come from a graphic design and web programming background. Hearing voronoi, flocking formula etc.
intrigues me a lot and I'm wondering where I can find other theory for generative art.
I did a google search and wikipedia search, I got quickly discourage mathematics is a too large subject...
Any good book, links or reference would be appreciate :).
