I wanted to show the countries and locations that are using Twitter across a 24 hour timeline. This timeline ran from around 11:00pm PST till 8:00am PST (so not 24 hours then !) and as such you can see that SE Asia was very busy at that time. The idea was to represent to the viewer a captivating image, whilst also being able to quickly glance at coverage. There were no specific keywords searched for, just everything that is presented in the Twitter Stream API that had Geo Location data attached.

The idea is to project this in a public space and allow viewers to set keywords and watch as those words propagate across the world.

I used processing.org to write the installation. Many thanks to all there who work hard to promote the beautiful use of code as art.
