reading from ethernet connection

I am trying to find a way to read values coming in from an ethernet port in processing as opposed serial() reading from a COM port.

I cannot get the memory setting to work above 1.5gb.

I am running windows7 x64 and have both java x64 and java x86 versions installed.

I have replaced the original " "processing\libraries\opengl\library" files with the amd64.jar files.

this is the summary message I am receiving:

Could not run the sketch (Target VM failed to initialize).

Make sure that you haven't set the maximum available memory too high.

I am not sure what I'm missing...

x64 memory issues

Hello,

I have a multi-core machine with 8gb of RAM running windows 7 x64 version and when I increase the memory setting over 1.5gb it crashes.

In the troubleshooting area within help describes that with these specs it schould bea ble to run much more than 1.5gb.

Any ideas?
