I created the pattern for this laser cut music box in Processing. The lid contains an inlaid Hilbert curve, a kind of space-filling fractal shape. You'll find the Processing sketch, as well as the PDF it produced on
Thingiverse, where I uploaded the project.
This is one of 4 such boxes I made as Christmas presents for my family. The colorful Js on each side represent each of four family members (our names all begin with J).
If you're in the LA area Friday 11/18/2011 , I'll be demonstrating some Processing-powered music+visuals at
Interface LA, along with other members of CrashSpace, an LA-based hackerspace.
This is an attempt to show the benefit of texture-space wrapping, something missing from the current OPENGL implementation in processing. This kind of sketch will get a little easier to produce once that capability is added in.
Joy of Processing is a new blog which I am filling with beginner and intermediate Processing tutorials. All the tutorials I'm posting are demonstrated, with source, in Processing.js, and will work in both Processing and Processing.js.
