Has anyone been able to use Processing to read data off a Xilinx FPGA?

Please do not laugh at my question.  I am new to both Processing and to Arduino.  I am currently using Processing to receive data from my Arduino board.  Processing was fairly straightforward to implement.  Can Processing be used to interface with non-Arduino boards?  If so, what other boards can Processing interface with?
