I am making a basic paint program. I made an array of colors. The different colors are displayed on the screen. If the user selects it then it should change to that color.

7. if( mouseX >= 10 && mouseX <= 30 && mouseX >= 230 && mouseY <= 250 ) currentColor = palette[0];

How can I make it so that when the mouse is clicked at a certain spot, currentColor changes to that color? The code compiles and runs but currentColor doesn't change. I tried changing currentColor to a color type but that doesn't work as well.

My program has 3 files -  a main, an avatar class that creates the player, and an opponent class that creates the opponent.

I want my avatar and opponent to be able to fire bullets. At first I thought about created a separate bullet class and pass in the vector locations of the player/opponent but that didn't work.

Then in main I had

Bullet fire;
fire=new PVector();

if ( key == ' ' ) {
    fire.getLoc( player.getPos() );
  }

I kept getting a null pointer exception. Anyone got any other ideas about how I can implement the bullet?

I just solved the problem but now a new problem appeared when I solved the previous problem.

The size is set to (900,900) but the size in the game world is set to (900,768). I used the 232 pixels on the bottom to display information about the game. Is there anyway to make the player controlled ship disappear when it reaches the bottom of the screen instead of overlapping onto the information area?
