Whenever I try to run a Processing sketch, it takes a LONG time for the sketch window to pop up on my screen (~45-90 seconds, on average.) This is unacceptable. After a pretty extensive weekend-long troubleshooting session, I am not much better off than I started, except that now I know the problem is definitely with Java (i.e. it's not RAM, it's not the OS, it's not the version of Processing.)
I am running Processing 2.0.1 on a 2008 Mac Book Pro which as been upgraded to Mountain Lion. The machine has 4GB of RAM.
I have cleared my Java cache, and tried with both Java 6 and Java 7. Neither works for me at all. Someone with computer skills much more advanced than my own ran a very simple request from the console for me, and was able to confirm that Java was responding unbelievably slowly.
Has anybody encountered this sort of problem before? Does anybody have any idea how I can fix this? Please help!
