May have seen some of my questions before regarding displaying text from a file. I've run into a new hump with which I hope someone can help me.

I am trying to pull text from a file which will include Chinese characters. I can't seem to get them to display correctly with .txt so I am trying to load an RTF instead. Tried creating a font using the tool in the compiler, but specifying CJK font lists crashed the compiler.

Next I tried using PhiLho's advice to others to load charsets for the chinese characters in the font mingliu but it still displays the text as ????????

Any thoughts??

I have this little bit of code to bounce around text read from a .txt file. I want it to make a separate "object" from each line of text and have them sort of bounce around independently, but I seem to have it running so that it is just making a growable array of chunks of all the lines of text. Does that make sense? It's putting all lines of text together rather than separating them, and I don't exactly know how to make them separate... I know it's not hard, but I just can't get my head around it. Help is appreciated!!!!

Hello all,

I'm going to try building a project using the wonderful SMSlib + pixelNerve's modifications for Processing in order to display incoming text messages all at once (ala textual healing).

The approach I am thinking of taking is trying to get Processing to take messages from SMS, write them to a text file, then have processing display them simultaneously in a sketch at varying orientations and sizes. So...

SMS  ---> Processing write--> text file <----Processing read <-----Processing Draw

Is this a reasonable approach or am I missing some red flag here? I am also having trouble figuring out how to get the incoming SMS messages to append to a text file so that I don't lose any of them.

I am trying to draw out my data with lines going from top of sketch to bottom, spaced evenly apart with line widths determined by data from a spreadsheet. So, I am trying to get a simple gradient effect with my data.

Right now, I am getting a black box, or maybe it's with no spacing!

Hey  guys, I am going insane and could really use help!

I’m using a little omnidirectional mic as a “sensor” and am trying to throw these readings into a spreadsheet.

The arduino printouts show “meaningful” values. As in, I get a value that makes sense; if it’s quiet, it’s one number, and if I make noise, the number goes up.

However, when it gets to processing, I get this pattern of numbers that just repeats, regardless of what goes on and numbers that don’t match Arduino. Is this because of the kinds of packets of info I am getting from Arduino? I’m going CRAZY!

 

Please help if yall have any ideas!

Hi guys and gals,

This is a pretty basic question, but I am trying to make an app that has a series of "balls" that bounce around on the screen and when they approach squares on the screen, the ball will turn red.

However, I don't know how to talk to just one instance or a particular instance of a class. It seems like it should be so very easy but I am unable to figure it out. I tried this.fill() but that didn't work.

I have been trying for two days to figure out what's going on in my code and am really really stuck! I was wondering if you nice folks can help me sort out this mess...

The goal: Have a laser beam shoot upward from my green cursor. If it hits a quadrant, that quadrant turns black and begins fading away. In essence, I want it to look like I am blowing holes in a picture, but the picture slowly regenerates.

The current reality: The laser beam is no longer shooting from the green cursor (it's just starting at the top of the screen - is my translate broken??-) and the squares seem to be drawing themselves willy nilly...

I got the thing KIND OF working, but something is wrong with my hit detection now T-T it seems my sector height and width are always zero....       sqVis is never true...

Hello everyone! I'm new new new to processing.

I am trying to write a program that blacks out an image as part of a shooter-type game. Kinda like block-out meets space invaders. The way I am doing this is trying to draw a black rectangle wherever the bullet hits.

I keep getting a weird ArrayOutOfBounds Exception problem ever since I started trying to code for the blackened-out rectangles... Maybe you could help?
