Why is Processing slower on my newer laptop?

Hi,

I recently switched from a 32-bit Windows XP T61p with 32-bit JDK to a 64-bit Win 7 W520 with 64-bit JDK and Processing has gotten tremendously slower. My approximation is around 7x slower for certain applications. The other difference is that the XP machine had 1.2.1 while the Win 7 machine has 1.5.1.

What could be the reason?

It is a bit surprising, but some people with this setting has even trouble to run Processing ( Problem using processing.exe with Win 7 64 Bit).
As I wrote there, try the 32bit JDK.

Hi,

I figured out the bottleneck. It seems to be that the screen scraping capability on Win 7 is much more slower than Win XP. In my application, I was reading off RGB values from the desktop.
