Visualizing music

Hello!

I'm using Ableton Live for audio and I'm interested in generative visuals. I've found an online project for Processing with Supercollider (audio) at http://www.generatorx.no/20051204/supercollider-and-processing-integration

I've also found a post here for using Processing to prduce visals from an MP3

However, I'm interested in producing visualizations with Ableton Live, not with a rendered .mp3 file, but while I'm creating music in Live, on the fly (so to speak).

Has anyone heard of a project with this goal in mind?

Any advice, information is appreciated. Thanks!

the minim library has simple fft examples using both mp3s and line-in as source.

This. The line in with minim can be used to get data from any audio playing through your speakers. Also consider communication with midi. Using midiyoke (or whatever mac equivalent) you can receive midi signals from Live and use it as data in processing, making way more possible than just interpreting through fft.

Sounds good. Also, it's a good reaon for me to keep my Midi instruments unrendered in Live (as audio which many DJs do).
