VBO / PShape3D with Processing 2.0

I'm a little confused - I'm used to developing for A3D by using the OpenGL2 library for desktop then switching renderers to A3D to test on a device when working with VBO's etc, but as I understand it there is no longer OPENGL2, it's just OPENGL and none of my PShape3D code works...
What's the best approach for running my geometry on the GPU?
