using ps3eye without maccam

Hi everyone i bought ps3 eye for developing and i downloaded a librirary which name is ps3eye( http://code.google.com/p/ps3eye/) but it doesn't works. Am i need to use maccam for this kind of devices or mac os x needs any driver(like windows) for ps3eye?

To use the ps3eye with OS X you need the macam drivers from http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/. Once you've installed macam you should be able to use the standard Processing webcam code (e.g. http://processing.org/reference/libraries/video/Capture.html). The ps3eye library you linked to appears to be windows-only so it's not going to be much help on a mac.

i already tried macam. But i am going to use this cam with openCV and i can not use capture() ( http://ubaa.net/shared/processing/opencv/opencv_capture.html) code with string i can only use it with int. do you know any solution for that?

So far as I can figure out, opencv isn't able to select the ps3eye as a source device directly. What I was able to get working was this slightly hacky solution based on something I found on the old processing forum:

cam = new Capture(this, width, height, Capture.list()[cameraIndex], 30);
opencv = new OpenCV( this );
opencv.allocate(width, height);
}
void draw() {
if (cam.available()) {
cam.read();
opencv.copy(cam);
image( opencv.image(), 0, 0 ); // and display image
}
}

It uses Processing's own video library to capture the video frame and then passes that on to opencv. When it launches it'll print a list of cameras and you'll need to change the cameraIndex variable so that it matches the index of the ps3eye on your system.

it works! thanks for your help but i just need to ask one last thing when i used that code video is getting slow (like 15 fps video) is it possible to decrease detail of the video or something like that for improve the video speed?

You might get a higher framerate by setting the capture resolution lower. Instead of:

Capture(this, width, height, Capture.list()[cameraIndex], 30);

use this:

Capture(this, 160, 120, Capture.list()[cameraIndex], 30);

You'll need to change the arguments to image() if you want it to fill the window, the details are in the processing reference pages.
