Using edge detection within a sketch that is pixel averaging a folder of images

I am using the code in the Edge Detection (in Learning) and want to NOT have the image grayscale, I want to use RGB. How do I do this? I am averaging pixels in a folder of 7 images. I am trying to use image detection for just one of the images. All images are RGB.

could you use the images for logic in grayscale and then render the result positions in rgb?

create PImages that you DONT render in grayscale and use that to detect the edges and pull the x and y coordinates of those edges and have another set of PImages that are in RGB that you DO render and put ur x and y positions from your edge detection logic on the colored images.

make sense?

Idk much about your project but doing that kind of logic across16.8 million colors would probably be harder than doing it across 256 :)
