Updating Processing

I currently have Processing 2.05b and 2.06b installed on my computer (Ubuntu 64-bit) and intend to upgrade to 2.08b and hopefully safely remove 2.05b, (and most likely 2.06b as well). I was wondering if there was a more simple way to update Processing than to download and install the package, and then remove the previous versions. If there isn't, is there a safe way to remove the old versions without messing up any dependencies? I'm sure this is a very novicelike question but I would greatly appreciate the community's assistance!

No, there is no simpler way (it seems simple enough), as overwriting an install with another is often risky (might leave files that should not be there, etc.).
And yes, you can remove old versions without risk (there is no dependencies, Processing, at least on Windows, is generally self-sufficient. At worst, you can loose the association of .pde to the removed path, but it would probably be restored when running the new version.

Hmm... I seem to be stuck on 2.0b6 because non of my android apps work on 2.0b7 or 2.0b8.

Found the reason after doing some digging:

The resize() function for images doesn't work anymore in android mode :-s

Although the link above is saying (if I'm interpreting it correctly) that it should be fine is you use loadImage() and doesn't work if you use createImage()... but thats not really true 'cos I still get the error using loadImage().

Anywhoo.... haven't tried this but if you use the image() function to display and resize the image at the same time it should work; ref: https://forum.processing.org/topic/problem-with-pimage-resize
