Typographic style for the Processing IDE

I experimented with alternate ways of displaying code in an IDE like processing some time ago. Before it collects dust, here it is. I found it quite useful even in this stage.

Go to http://volatile.allesblinkt.com/syntax/ to try it for your own code.

Beware: This is a quick hack using the JQuery.Syntax highlighting engine. It does not understand classes yet. It may not work in older browsers...

Hello Cedric,

Thank you for the link. Did not know that one before...

I could image it being built right into the Processing IDE as the main editor. Of course, replacing the ubiquitous monospaced view is not an option. But especially people who hadn't programmed before responded very well to the alternate style.

But even I wished I had something like that in Processing, especially for medium sized sketches, where Eclipse is just too much trouble. It gives a better visual clue where parts of the code (e.g. functions) end and begin. ( Textwüste )

I also liked the approach of Field in their code editor ( Screenshot ), but never got to do anything with Field itself.
