hello,

im just messin with a particle system that is connected by springs.

my question is, how those parameters of the toxic physics work together?

is the particle weight influencing the behavior of attraction?

I was actually having some problems, when the springs are to short and the attraction was to high and the physics Drag to low …

it felt as if the particles where in between to many forces but could not escape

As a result they started to "kinda oscilate"

i still do have this problem in some situations, but it got a lot better when i got rid of the particle.weight

that makes me believe that there are some relations between them

would be really nice to know how those forces influence eachother!

Just a thought, but why not use an AttractionBehavior on each particle rather than springs? I might even think it's faster. Just set it to -value and mess around with the strength and distance. Maybe it gets rid of that weird behavior.

AttractionBehavior repeller =
new AttractionBehavior(particleN, 64, -.5f, 2f);
physics.addBehavior(repeller);

Hi,

thanks for the replies so far!

I do use AttractionBehavior. I have a system – kinda like a forceDirected Layout where are Node(Particle2D), which do not have a certain particle.weight (dont know if there is a standard weight, or there is no weight, if not set)

The Particles have a AttractionBehavior which is negative (everything repells eachother so they spread out)

The particle are connected by springs.

I guess that sometimes the forces want the particles to go somewhere that is out of reach of the settings of the spring and then the flickering thing occurs.

its not that tragic – the overall question is how do the forces of the toxi libs influence eachother –

does gravity only affect particleWeight but not the attraction behavior? etc
