"this browser does not have a Java Plug-in"

Hello all,

I'm trying to export my Processing sketch to an HTML page. However, when I try to open it in Chrome, I receive the following message: " This browser does not have a Java Plug-in. Get the latest Java Plug-in here." I run Mac OS X 10.6, so I went to Software Update and installed all the updates I needed. It STILL doesn't work. Please help??

What are your mac os version ? Chrome version ? And java for mac os X version ?
Does the applet works in safari ?

Anyway, I don't understand what you installed. What do you mean by Software Update? Did you went to the Java Web site as advised?

Ubuntu 10.04LTS

Chrome 8.0.5

Javatester.org validates: " Java Version 1.6.0_16 from Sun Microsystems Inc."

Yet Processing produced java applet pages such as this one fail: http://www.rmx.cz/monsters/2009-08/cloudmonster/index.html

saying " This browser does not have a Java Plug-in.

Get the latest Java Plug-in here."

Yet Firefox 3.6 displays it fine.

Is this a Chrome problem, an Ubuntu problem, or a Processing problem?

I'd like to be able to recommend users access my sketches with either Chrome or Firefox.

It is a Chrome problem. You should locate instructions to install the Java plugin in Chrome for your system.

You could be correct that it is a Chrome problem. However, please see comment above; the Javatester.org site shows Java plugins functioning properly in Chrome. It seems to only hang up with Processing.

There have been some issues with Chrome and Java applets of late- more info on this OpenProcessing blog post.

I saw no clear connection with the "Chrome" line and the Javatester.org one, and you also mentioned Firefox.

Anyway, it might also depend on the kind of applet you have. Did you tried other Processing applets, eg. in OpenProcessing?
