The most interesting and memory efficient way to generate a dynamic rain/static electricity effect.

Looking for a nice memory efficient way to generate a mix of static electricity and rain effect to be randomly generated on any sized processing sketch in front of a background.

I cant really think of a very efficient way... anyone got any good ideas for this problem? :)

A first crack at some rain. Not my best work, but it's a start.

to use both your rain methods at once so it looks like background and foreground rain I added this!:

rain[] rains;

rain[] rains2;

then in the setup i modified and added:

rains = new rain[100];

for(int i=0;i<rains.length;i++){

rains[i] = new rain();

}

rains2 = new rain[100];

for(int i=0;i<rains.length;i++){

rains2[i] = new rain();

}

I then added

for(int i=0;i<rains.length;i++){

rains[i].simulate1();

rains[i].create();

}

for(int i=0;i<rains.length;i++){

rains2[i].simulate0();

rains2[i].create();

}

It works!!

However... its prettyy laggy! probably because its generating numbers so frequently :D

I think your simulate1 method is more clever than your simulate0 method ;).

Out of interest what were you planning on using the boolean fadein for :D?

Oh, I was imagining randomly placed lines that would fade in then fade out again. Rain doesn't do that though, does it?
