System calls in processing

Hi community, i'm new and i know this language is kinda mix between java and other languages. I intend to when i click a button, it makes a system call with sh that launches a program. Is that possible?

Processing is an API framework on top of Java. It is real Java, not a mix of languages!

However, there are also many Processing implementations to other languages, like Javascript, Python, Ruby, etc.

I'm new to Processing too, but I believe Java is capable to access any place within a file system which it has credentials for.
Although I dunno how!

With the open() function.
