Suggestion About Developing Flow Diagram

Hi,

First, I must say that I appreciate your work. I couldn't imagine Java in that way until see Processing. Whether you say yes or no to this question, I will definitely use Processing somewhere, I'm amazed.

I wonder that whether I can use Processing for developing a flow chart designer. It won't be so complex, there will be boxes, triangles and connector lines etc. I need objects or lines can snap each other too. What do you think, can I use Processing for this?

I think it is possible, but it will be quite some work... Now, you can look at the existing libraries, some can help you on this work. You need to practice Processing for simple tasks first, I think: trying stuff too hard for your level can be discouraging.

Thank you PhiLho. I've used AS3, Adobe Flex and Java for 4 years but I've never tried something like that. I've started to look over examples and tutorials but I think it will be quite some work too :)

I'll ask some questions about the development process in time, I hope I will find answers here.

It doesn't have an editor for the diagram but it has a diagram.

Hi amnon.owed,

I've looked at the examples but I couldn't access libraries. I get " The requested document was not found on this server." message, but thanks.

I have a basic question by the way. I will need menus, maybe accordion or something. I couldn't see any of GUI elements in examples except a scrollbar and button. I didn't think processing as a blackboard :)

there are also libraries

contolP5 is good or G4P
but I don't kow about menus // never tried them

You can create dropdowns with ControlP5. There's an example:
Examples > Contributed Libraries > controlP5 > ControlP5dropdownList

I've started to look at contolP5 but I think need to implement draggable things, I mean shapes, before coding GUI. I just asked about that because I couldn't see them at a glance :)

Yes but connection points can be continuous. Also lines also can be draggable.
