HI,

I have a very specific requirement. I would like to be able to create video from ANY data. So I would need to be able to read a binary file and then use this data to generate video content. The user would be required to enter details such as frame size, fps, etc. It is similar functionality to photoshop's old raw data input which allowed any file to be read and then converted to an image.

Your description isn't precise enough. What content do you expect to see in this video? Something like white noise? Filling an image with colors channels defined by the bytes read? Some random lines driven by the data? Etc.

Hi,

Thank you for the reply. I do not expect to see anything in particular. It will more than likely look like noise but that is ok. I want to use the data to create the video frames. So one approach may be to read enough data from the file to create a single frame, read more to create the nest frame and so on. Now that I think about it, this may not be so difficult as once I have enough data to create the frames, then I suspect that there would be a function to convert a series of frames to video.Any help greatly appreciated.

Processing 2.0 no longer makes videos directly, it generates the frames, and offers a Tool (Movie Maker) to transform them into a video (there are other tools on the Internet, like ffmpeg, for that).
For simple, direct conversion of bytes to image, have a PImage, and write into the pixels[] array (shifting bytes to fill RGB slots).
