Bothered by bugs in your programs? Everyone is. As you get better at programming, they get easier to deal with. I've got a showstopping bug in my current project :( but I won't let it get me down :)

BTW, processing is one of the least frustrating languages out there. Try programming in C or C++, they you WILL go crazy.

It is quite rare to have incompatibility issues with updates (but 2.0 will sure break lot of things!), and in general the sources of incompatibility should be listed in the release notes, always a worthy reading.

Well, processing is like a growing child, with crasy new feature every release. Just see the announced 2.0. The giant GL performance boost, porting directly to android etc. We should be thankful for the work these guys have been done, and still are doing. Sometimes these things aren't backwards compatible, as changes are made to the core infrastructre or features are removed.

A good technique to make sure old sketches are still running, is to always keep the processing version you developed a sketch in.
Just have it in parallel folders. So it's your choice if you port a sketch to a new processing version or leave it on the old one!

Good advice! Currently, I have 1.2.1 and 1.5, I often keep two or three versions in parallel, allowing to check for regressions. And I still have the archives of old versions.
If you don't want Processing to evolve, just stay at the version you have. If you want shinny new features, expect incompatibilities. That's just the way software works. Or, you get something like Java, trying hard not to break compatibility, but keeping, version after version, some design errors...

You help me to understand a little more the way a programmer thinks, I'm a designer, the designers create pictures that can watch after 1,2,3  years or more, I pretend the same for processing , but I see that in the programation world the things are diferent, processing  is not bad, simply I have other vision of the things.
