simple scaling question

Hi,
I am writing a program that receives int values from Max. What I need to do is scale values between 0-127 to whatever the value of the width of a rectangle happens to be at then time.
Im quite new to processing and text based languages so am having some trouble visualising how to achieve this.
Any help would be straitly received.
