So I can't seem to embed processing.js on hosting sites like tumblr or wordpress. The tumblr how-to does not work and the wordpress plugin isn't available for the wordpress hosting site.

The one way that seems viable is the use of bl.ocks.org and posting up sketches as gists on github, and directing users to the bl.ocks.org site, but i want to loadimage, and not too sure if there's a same site origin policy on that function.

That seems kind of hackey to me. So is there a way to get the sketches out there?

I always use www.openprocessing.org

with the applet export tool you can export normal JAVA sketches and upload them

I'm pretty much shifting away from java applets as a presentation vehicle for processing. It is very clunky and every browser seems focussed on getting it killed. With javascript, you're at least assured that it's going to be forward compatible.

So yes the bl.ocks.org method works, but the site seems to cache gists so be sure to have the gold release code rather than doing an iterative thing.

Now, the only problem is trying to embed an image so that the loadImage function is able to load into as a PImage. maybe just dump everything as a gist as well or a 8bit clean encoding base 64 to be decoded in the javascript itself.

Because I'm an artist and have been for a long time, I post on my own site. I just created a new page for algorithmic art beside my photography and painting pages. I'm about to add links for the source code as well. But right now I'm concentrating on learning everything I can as as fast as I can!

And I'm definitely in your (Jeff's) camp. It's clunky and I often want to add information. Besides, it doesn't fit with my site design!

hehehehe... I'm trying to keep everything as utilising publicly available resources/opensource as possible. Sites like tumblr and wordpress are great because there's a network effect that comes with being on a searchable/linkable/linkedback/reblogged site.

As an aside, I'd rather not try to represent generative art as anything other than realtime. Unless it requires long render times. There's less of an understanding from the general populace when they're viewing a presentation as a video than as something that unfolds right in front of them. Plus there's this real impetus to edit out the parts that don't fit and the need to put a soundtrack on everything.
