it looks as if I promised too much.

I've abandoned visual studio express, so the code is not available right away as text. There are some .vb files, but the code is somewhat intertwined with the visual representation-form that displays the shapedate I've downloaded (data quite extensive, ie global road-networks).

If you have the express editor, I could put the .vb files somewhere on the net where you could pick them up.

the geometric data in a shapefile is tied to an index-file with information on where the sub-headers can be found in the main-file. It simplifies reading the main, but I got to the index-file after having written most of the code. Not too bright, but that's how it is.

It wouldn't make much sense if you havn't got the express IDE to open it in .. or other eqvivalent editor. I'm sorry for that.

I found an older version of express and loaded the proper .vb-file (in text-format). The ones I've pointed to does not contain the proper code.

I tried to print it as a reply here, but the 2000 lines will have to be cut into several replies, so I put the code-text in the chape-library pointed to above.

You should know, that vb uses a single quote to mark a line-comment.

I do make some structs that mimics the shp-white paper structs, but not quite. The geometry structs are further put into classes with associated names. I've tried to minimize the code part that is associated to displaying in win-forms in those classes that interfaces with displaying. Structs and classes are somewhat dispersed throughout the page .. but, you'll find'em if you need to.

The chpHandler class is an intermediator between display and the geometry-classes (if memory serves me right) .. and contains the user-interfaces to loadig shape-files.

Please ask in on the code details.
