To be honest i dont know much about the possibilities of using processing in scala. Do you have some good resources ?

This is now my second week. It's cool. They're great people, and they have a lot of cool projects lined up.
Enough to keep me móre than busy... Scala seems pretty ok, but using the Fieldkit had me sweating today, but that's more because his code is a quite a few steps up to my hacking standards..

The reason I posted this Scala ad is exactly this: the resources on Scala seem to be aimed more at experienced Java programmers; there are little 101 docs available. But you quickly can get Processing to run in the Scala environment.

And you don't need to type empty brackets or semicolons anymore! :)

If you have some free time, perhaps you can write down (in the Wiki for example) your experience in using Processing with Scala, and give a fews "101" steps for newbies wanting to put their toe in the dip...
I vaguely wanted to learn Scala, but lacked time to do so, using it with Processing can be a good motivation factor!

thats a good idea. why not writing some tips that makes it easier to start using scala and to help avoid the problems you had :)

For the record, I feel I should mention Kojo . It is an IDE for children (or creative adults!) allowing to write simple programs in Scala, to move a turtle (yes, like Logo) which draws lines.
I mention it here, not only because they mention Processing in the home page, but also because one of the Kojo users made a Staging Module  which takes a lot of inspiration from Processing.
I started to learn Scala this week, I haven't tried yet this module, so I can't comment much on it, but I thought I should mention it.

I'd definitely be interested to learn more about Scala if for no other reason than to get a better understanding of fieldkit. Even just your personal thoughts, of which you have given us some insight, on the advantages and disadvantages of the platform would be wonderful and useful.

But I'm afraid to say that the move to the UVA also caused me not to start up Eclipse in over a month now. Which is a shame. This spde is nice, I actually found Scala also a nice excuse to finally make the step to code in a grown up environment like Eclipse.
