and yeah all that applet overhead is horrible, I'm sure it's possible to tune some more
e.g.:

• compress the jars to minimize the loadtime
• avoid that many confirmation popups by some magic flags here and there

but without experience on applets it's so time consuming to figure out something...any ideas because of the Popups ?

I think you mean don't worry about about lack of response (at least I responded), at the time I think my reply was on the money. I had success with Firefox 3.6 browser (Linux 64 bit).

This was more of an byproduct from my game-project and I'm not actively working on it right now, but I will try to improve the whole design when it comes to deploy my game.

Do you have the current Java installed,Niteshade ?
As far as I know Chrome doesn't support Applets.
But I have to say that it doesn't work on my developing System under Ubuntu either, but it then works on another Ubuntu non-developing system: IMO it's a matter of the current moon phase.

Regarding Mac: I have no idea, I know that only from commercials,sry.

Regarding negativity , no response/interest: The drawbacks of applets for users are obvious and of course there are ways to do stuff user-friendlier, so that's maybe why nobody cares about just another lousy applet because javascript is state of the art.
But for me as a developer and ruby-fanboy I get more fun doing it than with javascript or flash because the whole logic is ruby and just a little of a java hurdle.
And hey, you guys are interested, what more could I want ?
I will keep you informed when something happens :)

EDIT: So I just tried it on a Windows Vista machine and it worked.
Niteshade are you doing a lot of Java Development ? Maybe it's the same phenomenon like for me on Ubuntu.
