I have been trying to attempt something similar if not the same thing.

For example

the .txt file has the below line
a = color(height-h,x,width-x);

then line 2 has
a = color(height-y,x-y,height-y);

if I can load the text file into an array and then execute any line I want, is what I would like to do. I don't know if that is what   is trying to do, but that's what I want to try to execute without having to write a whole procedure to parse each line. I can just store each line as a string execute it.

For more complex "scripts", there is JSR-000223 (Scripting for the Java Platform), allowing you to run scripts in another language on the JRE. Java comes bundled with a JavaScript interpreter (Rhino), you can easily add a lightweight one like Lua (eg. LuaJ), and so on.

I suggest you look into the Java "Pattern" class -- your commands all seem to be something like

[mainCommandLetter][optionalSubCommandLetter][integerArgument]

so....
