Processing Sketch on a Mac G5 (pre-intel)
“Could not launch the application because it requires a version of Java that is not installed.
This application requires any version of Java 1.6, but only the following Java versions are installed- 1.5, 1.4, 1.4.2, 1.5.0. Updating to a newer version of Mac OSX may resolve this issue”
Once I received that message- I downloaded Java 1.6, and tried to install it. However, Java 1.6 doesn’t work with our Operating System. Our Mac is a pre-intel machine- a G5. It cannot support a new operating system, and so cannot support Java 1.6.
Erik Miller, one of our ADiM instructors on the technological side of things took a look at it, and suggests that you do the following:
Use an older version of Processing and try to publish it for a pre-intel MacIntosh G5. Our highest compatible Java is 1.5."
I thought Processing only used Java 1.5 anyways? For the record, I used Processing 2.04- it just occurred to me that this may be part of the problem. I'll send them a version that uses 1.2 just to be safe, but can anyone think of any other things I can do to try to get this working? Like I mentioned, they've been ridiculously slow at getting back to me, so waiting for any response from them at this point is somewhat impractical.
I would absolutely appreciate any help!
