Oh yes I like the look of that.  I have a bunch of sketches in my own github account and was wondering if there was a way to build them all at once, for instance to check they all still work when a new version of Processing comes out (or whether, for instance, a bunch of them are broken because someone's been removing which container classes are exposed by default - presumably for compatibility with JavaScript rather than simply to annoy the likes of me, lol).

I was going to have a try at writing an Ant method at some point, but you might just have saved me a task there, thanks :-)

i've create an example that do the work you want. i'm not a pro at writing Makefiles, if you find some bugs please contribute to the project (at the develop branch).

Getting set up on Windows:

1.  Aquire a suitable make.exe binary from somewhere.  I'm fortunate enough to have a copy of Visual Studio here, so I was able to get the source code from http://www.gnu.org/software/make/ and build it.  Put it somewhere on your system path.

2.  Add the folder where Processing is installed to the system variable 'path'.

Thanks Paul, I've learnt a lot from your project.  I regret that for several reasons I'm now going to turn my attention back to using Ant rather than Make as my build system :-(

Paul - I can pretty much see you're already familiar with this processing-java issue:  You can't simply run a sketch, you have to build and run the sketch.  Ideally a build-system would wait around for a build-process to finish so it can display the output and act upon the return code, but for a run-process it is preferable to just spawn it and forget about it.  As this is all one command it is impossible to do both.  I worked around this by running my sketches with the program "java" rather than "processing-java".
