Processing is slow...

... even the smallest scripts run really slow. Takes like more than 5 secs before I get a result after I press run. I updated nearly everything on my Mac. So I'm running Processing 1.5.1, OSX Lion, JVM all the latest... what is wrong? Please help!

So you mean it is slow to compile? it does take about that long for me to compile a small sketch like this:

int count = 0;
void draw () {
count++;
println(count);
}

but it also takes about the same amount of time to compile a sketch with multiple classes, hundreds of lines total. I think that is just the overhead. so.........get a faster computer?

once a sketch is running I have seen over 1000fps with very complex animations, so while compiling can take a few seconds, the underlying java is very sanppy. so relax, take a sip of water after you press run and enjoy the beauty of processing.
