Hello people,
With Quartz Composer, I'm making some kind of VJ-program. Until now, everything works, but it seems to be getting to too big. It runs slows on my Mac (especially when running it on a second monitor, what is exactly the purpose of the program), I think because I used too many patches.
So I'm searching for a better option. Since I'm no professional, it has to be FREE. I liked the modular way of programming, but maybe Processing is also an option.
My question is: is Processing a good program for what i want? I'll describe it more or less: I want to control a matrix of forms, each a circle with a stripe. I want to control the color, the bigness of the circle and the length and thickness of the stripe, all with a midi-controller OR letting it respond to sound. Besides that, i want to be able to load different patterns for the matrix (deciding which forms react to which controller).
All this worked in Quartz, but to slow. And not with a neat interface, only by programming while showing the visuals (which is okay, but it would be better to be able to create some sort of easy interface).
I understand if this question is a little too vague to answer, but you never know :-)
Greetings,
Jonathan
