Processing Cities Launch

We have just launched the Processing Cities web site in which we want to provide basic information on creative coding events around the globe as well as encourage people to set up their own. To get the full lowdown, please read the about page :

It seems logical to post an announcement here and perhaps get a discussion going between people who would like to set something up in their town/city. Since launching the site only a few days ago I've received a number of emails asking how to go about setting up and organising an event. The two main problems that people may be facing are :
1). Finding a place to set up a meeting.
2). Knowledge of the extent of a community in their area.
The first is perhaps the most problematic but then again there are always places out there willing to share their space and in exchange for some simple promotion. Get in touch with local schools or cultural centers in your area and present your idea. From experience I've found most people to be very warming to getting people in to their space.
The second links very much with the first in that I'm hoping this post could be used to get people together on a similar project. Some of you live in the same area and some of you may know of a place or even have a place to provide. Perhaps posting a quick request, suggestion or idea here may help people get in contact with others.
In any case I wish you all the best and please keep us in the loop on what happens by dropping us an email :
