I use Mumble ( http://mumble.sourceforge.net/) to talk to team mates when working on a project. I turned on the overlay for games, and processing stopped being able to refresh, or it seemed frozen. Turning off the overlay feature solved this.

Just a warning for those that might have the same problem in the future!
