Processing 2 Android mode Problem

Hi ,

I have installed android sdk but when I start processing it doesn't show any mode other than Java mode.

I am using windows 7 64 bit

Any help ?

Besides installing the SDK package, you also gotta install the Android mode itself in Processing!
Click the rectangle which toggles modes at the far right, and select Add Mode...

I have tried to do that but it shows an error "An error occurred when downloading the list of available contributors" and doesn't appear anything on the screen. I have tried it on Processing 1.5.1 and when I switch to android mode it shows no sdk found.

Please help..

Am I missing any step for installation?

I've never installed Android mode myself. Only JavaScript & CoffeeScript ones.
What I know is that those modes ended up placed in a subfolder called /modes inside my own sketch folder.
Perhaps a manual installation can fix that. But I dunno where to get its actual download link. Sorry!

Looks like PDE can't fetch even the list of the modes. Maybe you have firewall blocking PDE access to internet?

Usually when you first run PDE in Windows (running just default windows firewall) it will bring up window asking you whether you want this app to access internet or not. I usually give full access to PDE. Maybe you accidentally disallowed internet access to the PDE.

Also if you have some other antivir/firewall sofware installed, you may want either to turn it off or find way to allow PDE to access internet.

Another option, try to download another (2.0.2 or 2.0b9 or 2.0b8 and try to run them, as they're gonna be new apps on your system, your firewall should be asking you for permissions. So this way you can "retrace" your steps.

ps. all of that assumes that you have problem with firewall, but as there's no detailed error reporting, that's the best guess.

Also another problem may be if you don't have direct access to internet (ie. only through proxy) but this seems to be les likely. (Seems like someone had similar problem before: https://forum.processing.org/topic/processing-ide-and-internet-proxy)

Also you may try to "hack" your way through, more specifically:

your PDE can't download contributions.txt , you can do it manually from this url:

http://download.processing.org/ contributions .txt

and then save it at this path (of course repacing YOUR_USER_FOLDER with your actual user folder):

c:\Users\YOUR_USER_FOLDER\AppData\Roaming\Processing\contributions.txt

This step should allow you at least to see the list of the modes, but whether you'll be able to install them, that's another story.

Or another workaround is to manually install the mode:

Just download android mode from this url:

http://android.processing.org/AndroidMode.zip

And unpack this archive into SKETCHBOOK_FOLDER/modes/ folder.

and I guess you just downloaded android mode manually? (Is your "proxy problem" still on?)
