Problems with ProXML

Hi all,

i am having problems getting the proXML library up and running. i am using processing on snow leopard. i have downloaded the library and i have installed it in the libraries folder of processing. but i am having this error whenever i run the examples given with the library. " XMLelement is ambiguous". i have tried the solution given in here but it still gives the same error. and i am not able to figure out the problem.Please help.

Good you made your own search. You found the right answer, now you have to apply it consistently: all the XMLElement names in the sketch must be prefixed with proxml. package name.
Or just use built-in XML handling, unless ProXML offers something more.

Thank you very much. That did the trick for me . I am using proxml because unlike the built in xml it allows me to write to an xml file change the attributes of the elements etc.

sorry if this is an old topic, but i'm still getting an error "cannot find a class or type named 'proxml.XMLElement'". i'm sure i've imported the library correctly. what i'm trying to do is to make the example "proxml" work properly. does anyone have a hint? i've changed the instances of "XMLElement" for "proxml.XMLElement" in other examples and it worked, but on this one i'm getting this funny error, like if it couldn't find the library.

On what line do you have this error?

on all lines that include 'proxml.XMLElement'. i think it can't find the library properly, but the weird thing is that other examples work well. i'm on ubuntu, by the way, if that makes any difference.

I think you just have to uncomment line 8, then it should work. "ProXML" == "problematic XML"?

Aye, I agree. The "addChild" function doesn't work, its almost as if the library doesn't exist. I'm wondering though if this is isolated to Debian systems - I run Linux Mint 10.

Additionally, I've found one example, which is in this post, and one more example with is an exposition on this example, and thats it. Documentation is scarce. The official pages only describe what it does, no word on options (for example, addChild has a (String, int) but I have no idea of what the int should be - "666"?).

I thought I would try to get that example running, try to craft my own code from it, and even it doesn't run. The inbuilt XMLElement function, it appears, won't let you write to the XML (getChild, for example). phi.lho, if you're reading this, I'm going to paste in the error log into my other thread on this subject...
