Could you please try to inicilize the xml like this?

xml = new XML(this, "POI.xml");

it work for me, but when I compile the example in android mode I got an error like
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: processing.core.XML
i looks like for android version the XML class is not defined.

any idea?

I don't have 2.0 (waiting for official release) so I can't test. I have the sources (from SVN, so perhaps not the same as the ones used to generate the binary you have) and your code seems OK.
As I said elsewhere, you should indicate where the NPE happens.
Just in case, if you are on Unix/Mac, double check the case of the files & path.

Well, I suppose it is a consequence of the 'alpha' part of the version...

I try to run the example post here, I'm using processing 2.0.a4 in ubuntu machine. So far I can open the xml file and print the contents. the xml file in located inside the data folder.

i get a NPE in
    int id = kid.getInt("id");
at processing.core.XML.getString(Unknown Source)
at processing.core.XML.getInt(Unknown Source)

You get one step further and seems to trigger an internal error. Again, alpha release is expected to be buggy...

Here is a workaround solution. I read the complete file as a String array, join the lines and replace the whitespaces and then parse it with the new XML.parse function:

Depending on what kind of xml you want to read, there may be some changes neccessary during the "replacing".

What's the depth stuff for?
