Processing for Android works very differently with Eclipse (than the desktop version). I don't recommend it unless you first spend time first doing regular Android development with Eclipse, and then learn how to add the Processing classes.

For instance, there is no "present" on Android, and there is no main() in Android the way there is with a desktop sketch. The whole application model is very different. We hide this in the PDE, but doing it from Eclipse is much trickier if you don't understand how Android works first.

Well for this project I think I have to use Eclipse because I'm implementing libpd for sound, which is hard to do from the PDE.

EDIT: I have a decent understanding of activities and views, but I'm making the entire app in Processing. Everything else works fine, I just need to know why the z-axis translation isn't working.

What is the specific code that runs much slower in A3D? Could you post more details about this?

Yeah, my mistake. The framerate was slow because I was testing it with the debugger attached. When I ran the app independently the framerate was fine.
